"Heroes Apparel began in January 2008 when Glenn Shaw and Paul Hartsoe decided to enter the public safety apparel business – primarily focused on the firefighting industry. Initially operations were run out of a spare bedroom; during this time Lee Smoyer came on board to add his expertise and experience to the sales team. By August of 2008 Heroes Apparel opened a retail storefront to better serve their clients. The storefront also facilitated the addition of more apparel lines to their growing list. Capacity was doubled in 2010 as more staff members joined the team, bringing more than 40 years of experience serving the Law Enforcement community.
We’re thrilled to see customers worldwide coming to shop our ever-growing selection, superb prices, and unsurpassed service. Our retail showrooms in eastern, central, and western Pennsylvania; and central Maryland provide customers the opportunity to see, touch, test, try on, and take home the specialized products. Each location is staffed with experienced public safety professionals who can educate and help in many ways—even working with manufacturers on specific issues.
In November of 2014 Heroes Apparel joined Witmer Public Safety Group. Paul Hartsoe said, “Becoming a part of Witmer Public Safety Group has greatly expanded our abilities to meet and exceed the needs of our current customers as well as attract new customers.” Lee Smoyer went on to say “The potential for both companies to benefit greatly from this new relationship is what brought this acquisition to fruition.
